50th REUNION RECAP
Here are the highlights of our 50th Reunion.

On Friday night about 80 of us gathered at a new Italian restaurant in Chula Vista, the Mangia Bene.  We had a special room in the back in which to visit and renew old aquaintances.  We had a wonderful buffet, consisting of a variety of pizzas, and a large salad bar, plus tea and soft drinks.  Mangia Bene was quite an improvement over La Bella's in food and service, plus a lot of close parking.

Saturday morning 30 hardy souls boarded a bus for a sightseeing tour of the "new Chula Vista" featuring Eastlake area, Olympic training center, Knott's soak City, Coors Amphitheater, new shopping centers.  We headed back west and stopped at the new Veteran's home and continued to the Chula Vista Marina and the Nature Interpretative Center.  We finished our tour with a great tour of the high school which has tripled (at least) in size.  The only down side- they have renamed our "Sparky" as Sammie the Spartan.  Sammie as in Samson!

Saturday night was the most wonderful reunion ever.  The Catillacs played and we danced to 50's music, we had a champagne toast to commemorate 50 years of: YES WE MADE IT!.  Mr. & Mrs. Rice, Mr. & Mrs. Tomlinson, and Mr. Kennedy were our special guests.  We had 130 people attending this event.  The food was great and a lot of it.  Many lucky attendees received one of our numerous door prizes.  Don Vincent gave a moving invocation before dinner where several classmates joined in reading the names of our deceased classmates.  Once again we had the opportunity to reacquaint our selves with those who shared our days at Chu Hi.

Sunday Rohr Park was the site of our good bye picnic.  It was catered by the BBQ Pit here in town.  Once again we had great food and reminisced about our fond memories of Chu Hi and what we have done with our lives since that time.

Once again we heard, When is the next one?" and who knows?          -Patta Watkins, November 2007
